Course content:

This course will be delivered online and all resources will be provided electronically. If learners wish to print out the electronic resources at home, it is estimated that this would cost approximately £8 in printing costs.

The course is made up of the following four short units:

  • Accounting in a professional environment.
  • Creating business documents.
  • Essential accounting procedures.
  • Mathematics for accounting.

Students will study each of these four units and will take an end of course exam which covers all of the material covered in these units. Students who successfully pass the examination will be awarded the AAT Level 1 Award in Accounting.

Whilst AAT are currently planning to offer learners the opportunity to sit some exams remotely due to the Coronavirus situation, it may be necessary for learners to come into college to sit some exams or, where learners are studying outside of the Sussex area, it may be necessary for them to make arrangements to sit some exams at an AAT exam centre local to them. Where learners need to come into college to sit exams, appropriate social distancing and hygiene measures will be implemented.

  • Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this course, it is expected that students will have a sound grasp of written and spoken English and a reasonable level of numeracy. Students should also have a basic level of IT skills.
