This course is designed to increase learners’ knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. Successful completion of the required units will allow the learner to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health. It will also support learner progression into relevant employment within the health and social care sector. This course is free to any learner that does not already have a level 3 qualification.
To be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health, learners are required to successfully complete 5 units:
• Understanding the context of mental health and wellbeing
• Promotion of mental health and wellbeing
• Mental health problems: associated issues and consequences
• Understanding mental ill health
• Working in mental health.
Completion of a related level 2 course.
This could include counselling level 2; mental health awareness level 2; preparing to work in adult social care level 2
Pen; paper; folder and dividers. The recommended reading list will be provided at the interview.
Please note that students will be expected to meet deadlines, conduct research and take part in group activities. There will be the opportunity to complete some of the course as distance/ blended learning. This will be discussed at the interview
3-4 hours home study each week
Learners will be offered an interview for the Access to Higher Education Diploma leading to university study
