Teaching Methods

  • The teaching method for this class is a mix of whole-group instruction and individual work time. First, the specialist maths and ESOL teachers will present key skills using a Powerpoint presentation. Then, learners will have the opportunity to apply these skills to real life situations in class. Both teachers will provide support to individual learners as needed. Finally, learners can choose to work with a learning partner if they wish. This differentiated approach ensures that all learners have the opportunity to succeed in the class.

    How is your progress checked?

One of the first things you'll do is take an Initial assessment. This is just to get a sense of your starting level of confidence with the material. Don't worry, there's no pass or fail - it's just for us to understand where you're starting from.

As you work through the course, we'll be giving you feedback along the way. This is so you can check your understanding and progress. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help you learn.

At the end of the course, there will be a final assessment. This is to check your progress and see how much you've learned. Again, there's no pass or fail - we just want to see how far you've come.

Extra study or practice required at home.

Optional worksheets based on the content of each session will be provided.
