About Course

This 10 week course is designed to give you an introduction to Microsoft Word and Excel as well as expert advice on the capabilities and functions of the programme.

It will show you how you can effectively use Word & Excel in your everyday life as well as the workplace so you can maximise your potential.

Course content:

Getting started with word & excel – creating and opening, saving and sharing using template
Working with text – formatting text, indents, spacing, lists, links
Layouts – breaks, columns, headers & footers, page numbers
working with objects- pictures and text wrapping, formatting pictures, aligning, ordering and grouping, tables
Proofing – check spelling and grammar, change & comments, modifying styles, validity and accuracy
Mail merge
Working with cells – modifying columns, row and cells, formatting cells, understanding number formats
Formulas & functions – Intro to formulas, relative & absolute cell references, functions, using functions
working with data – Sorting & filtering data, tables & charts

Teaching Methods

There will be demonstration by the tutor for you to follow along to. You will then be given tasks to complete on what you have learnt to check your understanding.

How is your progress checked?
You will be given tasks to complete to check your learning and understanding as well as written work to complete.
Extra study or practice required at home.
Learners are expected to practice their skill in between classes as well as completing some written work.
