The aim will be to gain confidence using your camera so that you take better images. The course will cover topics such as image composition and exposure, how to focus accurately and the effect on images of shutter speed and aperture as well as explore taking images using a variety of camera modes. We will also look at different kinds of creative photography to suit all interests and look at some of the history of photography for inspiration!

No entry requirements.
A Dslr camera, memory card, fully charged battery, note pad and pen.
A tripod would be ideal, but if not owned, advice will be given over the duration of the course.
Feel free to bring any extra lenses and filters that you may wish learn about.
There will be tutor-led tutorials and hands-on practical exercises throughout the course with plenty of time allowed for you to explore and experiment. There will also be the opportunity for group discussions about a variety of photography topics and all subjects taught throughout the course will be supported by presentations, demonstrations and hand-outs. There will also be the opportunity to have lessons on location and hone your skills photographing Brighton Pier and Coast Line and the south downs among other locations.
Learners will be encouraged to keep a learner diary and a folio of their images. This can be done digitally and via the PACA Moodle website.
You will also get constructive and encouraging feedback on progress from the tutor and peers.
Assignments will be given for students to practise their new skills and engage with photography as a hobby. Assignments will be reviewed in class in a safe and positive environment for students to learn from, and be able to encourage each other’s progress.
There are a further two courses, Dslr Photography 2 and 3, which progress form this introduction course, which will develop skills further!
