In the Italian improvers course you will learn about: understanding and using medium to complex sentences, interacting efficiently with native speakers, describe and express opinion about clothes, give and ask for suggestions, talk about memories and describe habits in the past, describe physical and personality aspects of a person, compare people and analyze psychological aspects of a person, ask politely for something and express desire and hypothesis.
Students will acquire a good interaction level with native speakers and will be able to build complex sentences. Students will also learn the imperative forms and the verbs: 'fare','cominciare', 'finire' and 'sapere'. Moreover, students will be introduced to the imperfective, past participle (passato prossimo) and conditional forms.
Students need a good understanding of Italian grammar and culture. They should be able to use past and present tenses (regular and irregular forms), express their tastes and describe places and people.
The book that will be used in this course is called 'Nuovo Espresso, A2' Alma Edizioni, 2014 (student book). It is important to buy the book with the CD included. Students also need to bring their own notebook.
During the course, students will work individually, in pairs and in groups. Each lesson will focus on a specific linguistic area using different learning methods, e.g. gist and detailed reading, listening, writing and speaking activities.
There will be a small test and exercises in each lesson. At the end of each unit, students will complete a test and then discuss the results with the tutor. There is no final exam for this course.
Homework will be set at the end of each lesson. All students are encouraged to create a personal book with all vocabulary, verbs and expressions studied during the course. In additiion to this, students can also practise the language by using the ALMATV website, which contains extra exercises and videos.
