About Course

This course is designed for people with no previous knowledge of maths or with no confidence in maths at all and will give you the opportunity to gain confidence in numeracy and progress on to further Mutlitply maths courses. In this course, you will cover a variety of topics related to numbers and their applications in real life. We will begin by reviewing basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using both traditional and alternative methods. We will then move on and look at practical applications of maths using money and decimals, time and measurement and shape, as well as handling and interpreting data. By the end of this course, you should have a good understanding of how to use numbers in practical ways.

Requirements

  • To join this course you must be over 19 and be a resident of Brighton & Hove who do not have a level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE grade C/4 maths qualification. The course is free to attend, but we do ask for a commitment to attend all 10 sessions.

Teaching Methods

  • This course will use flip learning so you are able to familiraise yourself with topics prior to the class by watching a video. We will then review these topic in class and practice to check your understanding with the tutor present. Further practice will also be given as homework to cement your learning further.


    How is your progress checked?

    As you work through the course, we'll be giving you feedback along the way. This is so you can check your understanding and progress. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help you learn.

    At the end of the course, there will be a final assessment. This is to check your progress and see how much you've learned. Again, there's no pass or fail - we just want to see how far you've come.
