About Course

This course follows on from the build confidence in maths course and allows you develop further your confidence of using numbers and mathematical approaches to solve problems in everyday life. We will review some of the topics covered in the build confidence course and developing them further to deepen your knowledge and understanding. By the end of this course, you should have an even better understanding of how to use numbers in practical ways.

Requirements

  • To join this course you must be over 19 and be a resident of Brighton & Hove who do not have a level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE grade C/4 maths qualification. The course is free to attend, but we do ask for a commitment to attend all 10 sessions.

Teaching Methods

  • This course will use flip learning so you are able to familiraise yourself with topics prior to the class by watching a video. We will then review these topic in class and practice to check your understanding with the tutor present. Further practice will also be given as homework to cement your learning further.


    How is your progress checked?

    As you work through the course, we'll be giving you feedback along the way. This is so you can check your understanding and progress. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help you learn.

    At the end of the course, there will be a final assessment. This is to check your progress and see how much you've learned. Again, there's no pass or fail - we just want to see how far you've come.

    Extra study or practice required at home.

    You will have access to our on-line learning environment century.tech where you will be able to watch videos to familirarise your self with topics before class and also can be used to check understanding with questions.


    What can I do after this course?

    You will be able to progress on to a functional skills maths qualification
