You will learn about: asking and saying where places are, describing places, asking for and giving directions, asking about places in town, booking a room in a hotel, asking about hotel facilities, days, dates, months, describing your home: rooms and furniture, differences between SER and ESTAR, adjectives, prepositions and expressions of place

You will learn how to: 1. Talking about places: where places are, how far away, use of ser and estar. 2. Places in town: names and places of buildings, asking for directions, useful phrases. 3. Booking into a hotel: booking a room, days, dates, months, asking about facilities, useful phrases. 4. Describing houses: describing your home. 5. Describing your home: describing rooms in your home, uses of ser and estar. 6. Daily activities: describing what you do every day, what you do in your free time, hobbies and pastimes.

What do I need to do this course?

We will be using PASOS Book 1 (Student’s book). These are sometimes available in secondhand bookshops. The tutor will be able to advise further during the first lesson.

  • <p>This course is for complete beginners or for those who know a few words and phrases and who would like to build on their knowledge. No qualifications needed - just a willingness to learn!</p>

Teaching Methods

  • The emphasis will be on learning through communication, though grammar points will also be taught as appropriate.Teaching will be done through whole class work, individual work and small group and pair work.Methods of learning include role play, listening activities, games, music and interactive activities.


    How is your progress checked?

    Progress will be checked informally throughout the course, by question and answer sessions during the class, observation by the tutor, and by games and quizzes. Homework will also be given as a means of assessing progress.

    Extra study or practice required at home.

    You will gain more from the course if you are able to do at least one hour of study at home in between the classes!
