The main aim of the course is to consolidate prior learning and to build up confidence in speaking. We will deal with new grammar points as they arise, but the focus will be on developing conversational skills.
The main aim of the course is to consolidate prior learning and to build up confidence in speaking. We will deal with new grammar points as they arise, but the focus will be on developing conversational skills. We will discuss topics such as the environment, current affairs and topics of cultural interest. Further topics for discussion will be decided by the group.
You will need to have completed at least 1 year of prior study and will be able to use the present tense confidently. You will also need to be familiar with the future and main past tenses.
The tutor will advise students on textbooks and other resources on the first session.
Teaching and learning will be conducted through the medium of whole class work, pair and group work, role play, songs and listening activities and interactive activities.
Progress will be checked informally throughout the course through question and answer sessions in class, feedback, and the marking and assessing of homework.
There will be no formal accreditation for this course, but a certificate of attendance may be issued at the end of the course for those who wish it.
You will gain more from the course if you are able to spend at least 1 hour of private study between each session.
There will be a follow- on course in January. Your tutor will advise you of this.
