About Course

Having a learning difficulty means that people find it harder to learn certain skills. As this affects around 15% of people, it is important for those working in healthcare, social care and education to have knowledge of different learning difficulties. The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with knowledge of a range of specific learning difficulties, such as Autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. The course is aimed at learners looking to improve their understanding and awareness of the below key topics, especially those working in healthcare, social care and education.

The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge of different Specific Learning Difficulties, how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported. The qualification can be used by a wide range of learners looking to improve their knowledge and awareness in this subject area, including those working within healthcare, social care and education contexts.

The qualification is also suitable for school staff, care staff or anyone looking to build their knowledge of dyslexia, Autism and other learning difficulties.

    How is your progress checked?

    By completion of a portfolio of work to show that you are competent to the standards (DFES). There is a process of quality checking, which is designed to make sure that the qualification is quality driven. The final portfolio is checked by the awarding body to check that standards are maintained in line with other providers country wide.

    Extra study or practice required at home.

    You will need to complete homework ready for the next session, which will typically take no more than 2 hours a week.
