What is an Access course?
An Access qualification enables a person to become eligible to study at degree level. The course prepares those who would now like to go to University but for whatever reason, left school without the qualifications needed. The Access Diploma is recognised by the majority of UK universities and has no upper-age limitation. Access courses are typically one year long. The Access pathway is suitable for those seeking Social Science related Higher Education, including degrees in Social Work, Teaching, Psychology, Sociology and Criminology, Law, Adult Nursing, Child Nursing, Paramedic Science, Midwifery, Operating Department Practice, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.
In order to achieve the award of a QAA approved Access Diploma, students must reach a standardised number of 60 credits. 54 credits will be at Level 3, with 45 graded as pass, merit or distinction and 9 ungraded. The remaining 6 credits will be available at level 2.
Attend the open day
The course leader, Michele Ponting will be present at the open day to discuss the course and answer any question you might have.
No formal qualifications are required.
However, the interview process will include a literacy and numeracy assessment and students must achieve level 2 or above in these assessments.

We have continued support from the University of Brighton with students given full access to the library and study areas.
