Apprenticeships are work-based training programmes designed to provide employers with fresh talent, and apprentices with the skills needed to succeed.
Apprenticeships are a productive and effective way for a business to grow talent and develop a motivated , skilled and qualified workforce. Apprenticeships reduce staff turnover, reduce recruitment costs and increase employee satisfaction.
Apprentices must spend at least 20% of their time ‘off the job’, learning new skills and knowledge which may include regular day release, special training days, workshops or mentoring in the workplace. On the job training happens in the workplace and helps the apprentice develop specific skills related to the business needs and day to day operations.
The Apprenticeship Levy means that the costs of training are covered if your wage bill exceeds £3 million per year.
Smaller businesses can apply for funding of up to 95% of training costs through the Department for Education.
No national insurance for apprentices aged 16-25. £1,000 incentive for hiring 16-18 or 19-24 with EHC/care leaver status. Learn more on gov.uk.
The cost of the apprenticeship programme for any 16-21 year old that you take on is free if your business has less than 50 employees.
